At first, the Romans and the Carthaginians fought over
Sicily.
The Carthaginians were commanded by Hannibal. They
started the journey in southern Spain, continued along
the coast through the Alps to Rome. They returned to
Carthage because the Roman soldiers attacked it.
They used elephants to scare the enemy.
The Carthaginians were defeated by the Romans.
