There are two types of malware:

Ransomware is a kind of malware that blocks access to the computer

or files until a certain amount of money is paid.

A computer virus is a program designed to replicate through the

Internet and to damage or even delete certain files in a computer. Once

you download a program and your computer gets infected, the hackers

who created the program might access your email address and send the

program to the people in your contacts. This way they might also get

infected and the program continues circulating this way.
