Glossary
1. diplomacy – it is the management of relationships between countries
2. escutcheon – a shield with a coat of arms on it
3. feudal – related to the social system in which the people from a lower social class
worked and lived on the land that belonged to the people from a higher social class.
They also fought for them and sometimes they had to give them some of the food they
produced.
4. foreign policy – a government’s policy on cooperation with other countries
5. humanism – is a way of life where humans and their interests are at the centre
6. illegitimate – it is a child that is born to parents that are not married
7. mercenary – it is a person who fights for a country when he gets paid for it
8. occupy – it is when someone or some country enters a place and is in control of it
9. renaissance – the movement from the 14th century, it is the return to antique ideals
10. tax – money that people have to pay to the government
11. Transylvania – it is part of Romania
