The royal court in Buda became the centre of humanistic education and the renaissance in
the country. Matthias, influenced by his second wife Beatrice of Aragon, invited many Italian
humanists, which had an impact on the culture of the country. He also established the famous
Corvinian Library, which was built in the Renaissance style in Buda. There were between
four and five thousand works. Many of them were written by ancient Greek and Roman authors.
