The second candidate was Ferdinand Habsburg, Archduke of Austria
and King Luis’s brother-in-law. He also had a right to claim the throne
because of the agreement between Habsburg and Jagellion dynasty. The
agreement said that if one dynasty dies out, the second one will gain its
throne. Based on this agreement he was also crowned as the King of
Hungary in November 1527.
